Odebolt Elementary has kicked off its "Hour of Code" centers in Technology! Kindergarten through Fifth grade have been learning about coding, both online and "unplugged". Through carefully curated centers put together by our Tech Team, each class will learn different types of coding skills to complete projects, use skills they have learned in their classrooms to code programable floor robots and make the connection between coding and completing everyday activities.
Did you know...
In coding, a sequence is a set of logical steps carried out to complete a desired task.
Like brushing your teeth or getting ready for school!
Odebolt Elementary kicking off Red Ribbon Week wearing red on Monday and Hawaiian style for "Lei Off Unhealthy Habits" on Tuesday.
OABCIG's Elementary & Middle School building had two special guests today to help kickoff Red Ribbon Week. Deputy Cruz from the Sac County Sheriff's Office talked with students about the dangers of drug use and brought his partner K9 Remo in to show students how together they are specially skilled and trained to carry out a variety of police tasks including searching for drugs, locating missing people, and protecting people.
Red Ribbon Week highlights the importance of living a drug-free life. It presents an opportunity for parents, educators, and communities to reinforce the drug-free messages they share with their children throughout the year.
Mrs. Liechti's 3rd grade class enjoyed feedback from a local writer, Doug Clough, on their opinion writings about the importance of having a movie theatre in a small town.
Odebolt Fire Prevention Week cont.
Odebolt's K-5 Elementary students wrapped up Fire Prevention Week with a trip to the Odebolt Fire Department where they got to meet some of its local volunteer firefighters. The firemen showed the students their gear, talked with them about the importance of fire safety and awareness, set up simulations for them to practice "staying low" below smoke and heat, and their personal favorite, a ride back to school in the firetrucks. With lights and sirens of course!
Thank you to the Odebolt Fire Department Firefighters for being our hometown heroes.
