KTIV's Ron Demers presented to our 3rd grade classes on weather. He talked about severe weather and how we can prepare and know when to take action to be safe. 🌪️⛈️💨
ISU Outreach presented "WaterRocks" to the 3rd graders. They discussed what pollutes our rivers and lakes and how to reduce the pollution. Students learned about the water table and Iowa's ecosystem. For more information log onto: www.waterrocks.org

Congratulations to Josh Masters!! Josh presented his meteorology research project at the Western Iowa Science and Engineering Fair at Iowa Central Community College in Fort Dodge. Josh worked with Mr. Wood for independent study credit as he analyzed pros and cons of predicting the size of hailstones in the Midwest using CAPE, which is related to the energy in a thunderstorm.
Josh earned the following awards at the fair:

NOAA's 2023 Taking the Pulse of the Planet Award
United States Army Certificate of Achievement

Ida County Fair Queen Hannah Weeda & Miss Ida County Addyson Melby shared about the importance of the farming industry with students at the elementary in Ida Grove to celebrate National Agriculture Week! 🌽

10 Spanish III & Spanish IV students earned their Seal of Biliteracy this school year in Spanish/English! We also have 5 Seniors that already earned their seal last year! To earn the Seal of Biliteracy students have to show proficiency in 4 aspects of each language: Speaking, Listening, Writing, and Reading.
If you see any of these students out and about, please congratulate them on their wonderful achievement!!👏🏻

Northwestern Math Bee 🐝
Piper Moser, OABCIG Ida Grove 5th Grader, won third place in the American Legion district flag essay contest that included essays from 11 area counties. Her essay, one of three local winners went on to county, then Piper's was entered in the district contest. Piper's essay won third place in the district. Pictured with Piper (center) are Charles Pierce (left) and Douglas Dausel, representing Battle Creek American Legion Post 364. Pierce is presenting Piper with prize money for the honor. 🇺🇸
The Odebolt building is hosting the Scholastic Book Fair, March 20-23. Located in the elementary library, there are books for all ages, PK-8th grade. The public is welcome to shop the book fair. All proceeds support the Odebolt school libraries.📚
