OABCIG Return to Learn Plan

If your child is ill, please keep them home, and consider taking them to their health care provider for an evaluation.  Reminder the illness criteria below from our district policies:
Students with the following symptoms should remain home or may be sent home from school:
  • An oral temperature of 100 degrees Fahrenheit or above. The child’s temperature must remain below 100 degrees for 24 hours without the use of fever-reducing medications before they can return to school.
  • An illness that caused vomiting unless the vomiting is known to be caused by a condition that's not contagious
  • Diarrhea. The child should be free of symptoms for 24 hours before returning to school.
  • Any other health condition that, in the school nurse’s judgment, is of concern for the health and well-being of the child and others.
  • Communicable illnesses for which you have been advised to keep your child out of school until cleared to return by the county health department or your child’s doctor.

COVID-19 will be treated as a communicable disease like other illnesses like chicken pox, influenza etc.  We will continue to follow CDC and IDPH guidance as we navigate the school year and COVID-19.
  • Masks cannot be required, but are recommended while indoors when unable to maintain 6 foot distance.
  • The COVID-19 vaccine is also recommended for students and staff over the age of 12.  If you have questions on where to obtain this vaccine please let me know.
  • Contact tracing will NOT be completed if there is a positive individual
  • If your student appears to be ill, or has symptoms suggestive of COVID-19 you will be asked to  pick up your student and encouraged to reach out to your health care provider for further direction.
  • Exposed students will not be required to quarantine, but if they develop symptoms, the school will ask that you reach out to your health care provider for possible testing.
  • Students/staff testing positive will be required to isolate for 10 days from symptom onset.  Day of symptoms is day "0" and through the 10 days so can return on day "11"
